The Unfortunate Ones

Published by Mr. Nuggets under Compassion,Poetry

Lest we be careful,
Self-focused Ignorance
Shall cast its hideous web
Through cataracts of prejudice.

Soul to soul

Published by Mr. Nuggets under Poetry

The gentle, strong one
Abides in want
Of a singular connection.

In raw moments
A stare, a thought,
A pain, a word.

Disillusionment is granted
To a psyche
Struggling against it;

A drought of kindred souls
Settles hard,
Clattering, reverberating,

In disconnection
Heart from heart
Blunting all desire.

A torn abyss
An aged child-heart
Wanting a Just escape.

Sometimes

The image begins
As emotion

An ache, a fear,
A deep tearing

The world wants nothing
Of our pain

Our bewilderment
Our melancholy

No, it must be
Success and glory

Positive thoughts and
Proper words

But what if,
Just what if for

A few moments, days
Or weeks

The searing gorge inside
Is too deep

To hide, to avoid,
To pretend,

To find humor, joy
Peace, relief

What then will
The world do?

And will that image
Ever materialize?

His Mundaneness

I wish that I could write

A poem that would be

The font of all wisdom,

To all, life’s Master Key.

But, I’m just a normal guy,

A rube with little brain;

So, sorry ma’am you’re stuck with

Verse that’s more mundane.

The Forgotten

Published by Mr. Nuggets under Depression,Poetry

Long deep hollow fissure
Acid spilling, spewing, burning, digging

A tender salve, a moment here
A moment there

Blades whirl and thrust
Again, they are back

In need of that salve
Her soul in throes of want

A touch of balm
Just a touch then no more

Her hand outstretched
Thirsting, yearning for more

The anesthetist’s wand
So brief, so cruel.

The touch, not enough;
Now the sceptre is gone.

Barren, bloodied,
the Soul is

Flayed on the Wasteland
Of the uncaring

If I Had A Moose

Published by Mr. Nuggets under Poetry

If I had a moose
I would really want to see
If he would wear a hat
Fancy as could be

If I had a mouse
I would really love to hear
Him climb up on my arm
And sniffle in my ear

If I had a cow
I would really love to tell
Her cuddly little calf
To raise a little hell

And if I had much sense
I probably should not write
Poems for my kids
‘Cuz this one’s not quite right.

Plump Pimples

Zits are fun
Zits are cool

If I didn’t have none
I’d …

well …

probably not have as much fun in front of the mirror at night.

inside looking out

is there a way
for me to
join you
out there

in that place
so many others
seem
so comfortable in?

I will never be The Man in Black.

But, maybe in my own little world I could be
